Transit Orchestrator
The Transit Orchestrator is a platform for public transit agencies to integrate mobility-on-demand with fixed-route services. It acts as a backend for journey companion apps and connects seamlessly with third-party fleet systems.

Key Capabilities at a Glance
Discover powerful features designed to seamlessly integrate mobility-on-demand into your transit network.
On-Demand Fleet Optimization
The Transit Orchestrator combines routing and dispatching for on-demand services with multimodal journey planning, enabling seamless intermodal rides across ridepooling, hailing, flexible-route, and fixed-route services.
Real-Time Coordination with Fixed-Route Services
The Transit Orchestrator continuously syncs on-demand vehicle routing with real-time data from fixed-route services—ensuring smooth transfers and minimizing passenger wait times. When delays occur, routes adjust automatically.
Dynamic Rebalancing Across Modes
The Transit Orchestrator intelligently repositions on-demand vehicles using demand insights and real-time fixed-route transit data—ensuring availability exactly where and when it’s needed most.

FOUNDATIONS
Built on Research, Ready for Transit
The Transit Orchestrator is built on rigorous in-house algorithm research, developed through the TransitOrchestrator project funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) via the mFUND initiative, and guided by expertise from research partners Technical University of Munich and Stadtwerke München. This TransitOrchestrator project links two research areas that have traditionally been studied separately: routing in public transport and coordination of on-demand fleets. It’s scientifically exciting to bring these streams together in a practical, real-world algorithm.

Prof. Andreas Wiese, Technical University of Munich
For passengers to rely on their connections, it is necessary that the on-demand fleet is coordinated with the fixed-route network. We hope the Transit Orchestrator will make this possible through its novel approach to integrating fixed-route and on-demand transport.

Marina Eicke,
Stadtwerke München
By supporting innovative projects like Transit Orchestrator, we foster the development of smart systems that make public transit more flexible and attractive. This is how we harness digitalization to manage growing traffic and improve urban quality of life.
